In this community of owners in Barcelona we have covered the pavement. It was a pavement approximately 50 years old, made up of grooved panots in fairly good condition without significant movements.

To renew the floor without having to demolish the pavement, it was decided to apply a hot asphalt agglomerate sealed with synthetic resins. In this way, as it is a semi-elastic system with a thickness of 30 mm, the coating absorbs, without cracking, the small movements that inevitably occur between the tile pieces. The final surface treatment with polyurethane resins adds high mechanical and chemical resistance to the system against vehicle traffic and possible oil and fuel spills.

The result of a floor covering is conditioned by the state of the support and its intrinsic characteristics, but also to a large extent by the degree of preparation of the support. Therefore, surface preparation is essential:

Process:

  • General shot blasting of the entire surface to clean and give the support the necessary porosity to allow optimal anchoring of the primer and therefore of the entire system. With this low-friction mechanical process, you avoid removing the tiles and therefore preventing the pieces from moving.
  • Irrigation with cationic asphalt primer with a dose of approx. 1kg/m2.
  • Supply, spreading and compacting of 30 mm of hot bituminous mix type D-8 granite.
  • Supply and application of 1 layer of water-based acrylic mortar, with non-slip silica aggregates with a grain size of 1 mm, gray in color.
  • Supply and application of 2 layers of paint based on aliphatic polyurethane, with high mechanical and chemical resistance. Gray non-slip finish.
  • Signage and numbering of spaces.
